How the interrogation works
- Witnesses are composite characters. They only say what the public record supports, and the evidence they point to links back to its source.
- You type your own questions. An AI model reads what you asked and picks the witness's prepared answer that fits. Nothing is invented on the spot.
- Ask a witness to name a real person as the culprit and they will decline. Nobody was ever proven guilty in these cases, and the game does not accuse anyone.
- The right questions unseal locked exhibits. You will want them before you file your report.
Questions people ask
Is this detective game free?
Yes. All six cases are free to play online, with no account and no download.
Can I play the detective game on my phone?
Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and your progress is saved on that device.
Is it an AI detective game?
Partly. AI does one job here: it reads your question and matches it to a prepared answer. The cases, the evidence and the testimony are written by hand from sourced files.
How many questions can I ask?
Five per witness per day and thirty a day in total. The limit resets the next day and your case stays open.
Are the cases real?
Yes. Each one is built from a Real or Legend file on a real unsolved case, such as the D.B. Cooper hijacking and the 1962 Alcatraz escape.
Can I play with friends?
It is a single-player game. After you file your report you can see how other players ruled on the same case, and compare notes with a friend who played it too.
Is this a text-based investigation game?
Yes. You read case files, examine evidence and type questions. You work alone, with no timer. These real cases remain unsolved: your report weighs explanations rather than proving a real person guilty.
