The terms for using Real or Legend: what is free, what a purchase gives you, how unlock codes may be used, and the limits of what we promise.
Who we are
Real or Legend (realorlegend.com) is an independent archive of fact-checked mystery files, games and interactive fiction. You can reach us at contact@realorlegend.com. By using the site you agree to these terms.
What is free and what is paid
The fact-checked files, the daily Real or Fake round, the cold cases, tonight's file and the first chapter of each story are free. The remaining chapters of a story are sold one story at a time, and the Archive Pass opens every paid story and some extras. Prices are on the pricing page and are charged once.
What a purchase gives you
A purchase gives you a personal licence to read that story, or to use the pass, for as long as Real or Legend is online. It is not a subscription and does not renew. A pass also covers paid stories added later. We may change free limits and extras over time, but we will not take away a story you paid for while the site is running.
Unlock codes and devices
Each purchase comes with an unlock code that works on up to three devices. The code is for you, or for the person you bought a gift for. Do not publish or resell codes; a code that has been shared publicly may be cancelled.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never receive your card number. Tax is added at checkout where the law requires it. Refunds are covered by the refund policy.
Fiction, facts and AI
The stories, their characters and the witnesses you question are fiction. The files are researched and sourced, but they are not professional advice and may contain mistakes; tell us and we correct them. Some features use AI: a witness answers with lines we wrote, chosen by a model, and the fiction desk writes legends from your prompts. Film clips marked as AI footage are generated.
Using the site fairly
Do not copy the paid chapters or the site's content in bulk, attack the site, or use automated tools to drain the daily limits. What you type to a witness or at the fiction desk must not be unlawful or abusive.
What we cannot promise
The site is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and correct, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, our liability for a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date below shows the latest version. A change never reduces what you have already paid for.
