KFK, the self-styled visitor from 2060

What the prophecy says

KFK is the ID of an anonymous user who said, in June 2019, that he had come back from the year 2060, and who then answered other users' questions about the future. The replies were written in traditional Chinese characters, and together they make up the only KFK time traveler biography there is: born in Shanghai in 2020; lived mainly in Shanghai, and also in Kunshan, Huzhou and Ningbo, until 2048; moved to Australia after that. He said the trip was not physical but a transfer of information and consciousness, that 2019 was the year before his birth, and that he had come to give the people of 2019 some well-meant warnings, and to remind one woman in the hope of affecting her decades later. He said he would leave before 2020.

The KFK time traveler predictions ran from 2019 to 2060. The trade war of 2019 would go into history books as a second Cold War. Donald Trump would be re-elected but face heavy pressure from relatives and opponents. Taiwan's leader in 2020 would be the same person as before. There would be an accident at the Tokyo Olympics. The 2032 Summer Olympics would be held in Jakarta. A bigger earthquake would force Japan to move its capital, to Okayama. There would be no global war before 2048; then one would break out where three continents meet, and the world's population would fall from 8 billion in 2047 to 5.3 billion by 2060.

Where it first appeared

The posts appeared on Douban, a Chinese social network, not on a Japanese message board, and the thread that carried them is no longer public. The earliest dated trace Real or Legend could open is a post in a Douban group about the supernatural, published at 13:11 on 24 June 2019 under the title “Has anyone heard about that 2060 time traveler in the budget-travel group?” Its author wrote that a user with the ID KFK had posted the day before and that the post had already been deleted. That afternoon the same author added a long compilation of KFK's answers, mostly without the questions that prompted them. The predictions on this page are taken from that compilation.

An English-language fan site that lists 281 question-and-answer entries dates the first post to 22 June 2019 and links, as the original, to a thread in a Douban group called Susan Miller. When Real or Legend tried to open that link in September 2026, Douban would not display it without a login. Neither the first date nor the full original wording can therefore be checked against the thread itself.

The link to Japan is indirect. KFK said that, apart from himself, only two people had made legal trips, from 2075 and 2062, both in the Far East, and that the famous time travelers came from Japan because it was closer to the entrance. According to a Douban analysis published on 27 June 2019, when a user asked whether these were “2062” of the Japanese board 2channel and “YJ” of Twitter, KFK agreed, saying most of their answers were true. Citing a Japanese blog, the analysis said 2062 had first appeared on 2channel in 2010, and it listed contradictions between the two sets of answers: 2062 had said Japan's capital was still Tokyo.

How the date spread

Doubt came first. Within days a Douban group called KFK原贴研究中心, the KFK original-post research centre, was publishing analyses; it now shows more than 56,000 members. One early reader pointed out that someone born in Shanghai in 2020 would hardly write traditional characters, since the mainland had used simplified ones for decades; others decided the poster was from Taiwan. KFK had already replied that he had no connection with Taiwan and that traditional characters were simply a travel setting, chosen to avoid attention.

Events then gave the story a second life. Tsai Ing-wen won a second term in Taiwan's 2020 election, and on 24 March 2020 the International Olympic Committee and Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe, postponed the Tokyo Olympics to 2021. On 30 May 2021 the Taiwanese news site NOWnews called KFK the most accurate of the self-described visitors from the future, listing the pandemic, Tsai's re-election and the postponement as hits. It read public criticism of Trump by his niece, Mary Trump, as the promised pressure from relatives, and admitted one miss: Trump's re-election. The fan site with 281 entries adds details, such as a birthplace in Shanghai's Jing'an district, that do not appear in the June 2019 compilation.

What happened on the day

Several answers came with dates that have now passed.

Taiwan, 2020: it came true. Tsai Ing-wen was re-elected.

United States, 2020: it failed. Joe Biden won 306 electoral votes to Trump's 232, and the result was certified at 3:44 a.m. on 7 January 2021.

Olympics, 2032: it has already failed. On 21 July 2021, at a session in Tokyo, the International Olympic Committee chose Brisbane by 72 votes to 5.

Tokyo Olympics: fans count it as a hit. In the compilation the line follows an answer that China's women's volleyball team would not win, and says only that there would be an accident at the Games. It says nothing about a disease or a postponement.

The pandemic: the compilation contains no virus and no epidemic in 2019 or 2020. The line NOWnews counted as a pandemic forecast says that many industries would work from home in the 2020s. Another says that the turmoil of the second half of 2019 would become humanity's normal state. Disease appears only further out: superbugs causing a disaster in the 2050s, and disease and war cutting the world's population after 2047.

Japan: no year was given for the move to Okayama, so it cannot miss a deadline. As of September 2026, Tokyo is still the capital.

Verdict

Who was KFK? Nobody has established it: the account was anonymous, readers in 2019 could only guess, and the original thread is gone. Is the KFK time traveler real? Nothing in the record suggests so. One dated answer, Taiwan's 2020 election, came true; the other hits were broad, or were matched to events after the fact, while two of the most specific dated forecasts, a second Trump term and a Jakarta Olympics, were wrong. Real or Legend files the prophecy as did not happen.
